Billy Bop Cat

(Mike McCornack)

My cat Billy Bop, bet he is the top cat,
Dresses in a top hat, swaggers like a rogue.
Silly-billy alley cat, never sure just where he's at
On his kitty business trips, nobody knows, but

Billy Bop Cat comes home again
With a wink in his eye and a rumble in his chin
What's behind that mischievous grin?
When Billy Bop Cat comes home again.

Billy leaves my place, disappears without a trace
Sunset you can bet Billy's on his way
Walkin' like a street dude, belly full of kitty food,
All night tom-cattin' till the break of day, but

[chorus]

Last month the neighbors' cat started looking kinda fat
Made a nest of papers on the back porch floor.
Last night, big surprise! Twenty little kitty eyes,
Ten little Billy Bops looking through my door.

[chorus twice]
