Rain Song
(Mike McCornack)
The world is all puddles when you're young and it rains,
A leaf museum in the puddles and the drains.
It's raining out today; you're not allowed to play,
So you stay indoors and dream your time away.
As you grow older the rain is still falling.
You live away from home but still hear your mother calling.
You're working late today; you're not allowed to play.
So you stay indoors and dream your time away.
Rain is the life and we are the dying,
Yet we're always laughing and the rain is always crying.
Laughing we will die, and no one tells us why
But we all will leave the rain behind to cry.
